We JUMPED!

My kids finished up their last swimming lesson tonight. For two weeks, my daughter has been getting up the nerve to jump off the diving board. She would walk half-way, begin shaking, and return back to where she began. She wanted so much to get up the nerve, even visualizing it in her head. Yet, she was too afraid. For three days, my husband and I were encouraging her, even bribing her with a dinner at her favorite pizza place.

Tonight was her last shot. She climbed the ladder. She walked gingerly down the board. She started to turn back around, then stopped. She edged closer and closer to the end of the board. She looked at us and smiled. She closed her eyes, took a deep breath, and jumped!!! We were elated and so was she! She did it! She jumped. I captured the moment with my flip video.

Her jump is a metaphor for what Lisa and I are beginning. We have been thinking about this blog for some time. So, today we jumped. Both of us are coming at it from different perspectives. Lisa is a Reading Support Teacher, while I teach 4th grade. We are fortunate that we teach across the hall, because we are always popping in with ideas.

Over the past few months, we have been reading about the 21st Century Framework, trying out different technology ideas, and have joined the twitter movement. We've dabbled in IMovies, Flip Videos, digital podcasting, and more. Neither one of us are experts, but we are learning to make the jump, close our eyes, and hold our breath in anticipation of the journey. We like to invite you along for the ride. As my daughter quotes Hannah Montana, "Life's a climb, but the view is great." Welcome Aboard!

  3. LOVE the launch post! Just like jumping off the board after days of preparation -- you get to the point where it's just as scary to go back, so you might as well bite the bullet (with a smile!!) and JUMP! Good for daughter! Good for both of you! Welcome to the conversation!!

  7. We appreciate all your kind thoughts and encouragement. We're not sure where we're heading, but that's the fun of the journey. Once we figure out your blog titles, we'll add them to our roll. We're learning all the bells and whistles to the blog slowly.
